My official birthday was on a Monday and to be honest I just wasn't sure how that was going to go. Mondays are just well Mondays in my book!! haha! It was great! I got a chocolate cake and balloons from my work friends, lunch with Mom and Ross, and then cookies from Memaw and Papaw Hogan as well as Aunt Pen and Uncle Bruce! I just loved my Monday Birthday!! (then I continued to celebrate all week!)

The chocolate cake at work! It was two layers of chocolate with chocolate icing!! yum!
Mom and Ross both came to join me at lunch which I loved! We sat outside
and had a great time!

Once I got back to work I was surprised with a cookie bouquet that was delivered just for me!

It was a great birthday! More to come...

A little late...but we had fun so here is the recap! ;)

On Friday night we went out with Nora and Ron to celebrate Mother's Day at
Uncle Julio's!It was a new place to try for all of us and we had a great time!
They need to change up the salsa a little bit but the chips were oh so yummy!!
Nora is drinking coffee these days so we got
her a cute traveling mug to take in the car and a giftcard to steinmart to buy
all kinds of new clothes for the summer!

Ross and I at dinner! I think our hair is the same length right now....grrrr..
Ross with his mom and dad!

Ron and Nora enjoyed dinner and trying new things!

On Saturday night we headed over to my parents house for burgers and dessert!
Mom is getting a new pool put in so she had to show
Ross all the plans so he will know
where we will be over the summer! haha!!
We got my mom some running stuff!
She and I just completed a half so we got her a pink 13.1 magnet for the car,
a new nike running top and a decorative kitchen towel!
She is going to be a running coach with me this summer at luke's and I am so
excited to share that experience with her and know we will both have
a great time logging in the miles!! ;)
Dad and I! I honestly wish I was a little bit taller....

At work I planned a Cinco de Mayo social run after work on Thursday!
We had a great time!! Running, food, drinks, and games!
There was a really good turnout
and everyone enjoyed the event! I was so nervous but it
turned out great and Ross came to support me that
night which I really appreciated!!

13.1

Monday, May 2, 2011

13.1 two races down for the year! I think I forgot to blog about the rock n roll half so I thought I would add this in with the Heels and Hills half!! The rock n roll half was at the end of March the
same week we were leaving for Florida! I had a goal in mind of under
2 hours so Monica and Orlando helped pace me during the race to
keep me focused and on track!
The race had great bands at every mile and tons of
family and friends cheering everyone
on throughout the race! We finished in 1:54! I was so excited!

All the ladies: Amy, Jenn's Sister, Jenn, Monica, and I before the race!!
We all had a Brooks porta potty pass which meant we
were allowed to go in the trailers with the nice
warm heaters and warm water to wash our hands! ;)

After we finished! I was so excited and proud! We grabbed a medal and
Brooks finisher shirt to keep us warm!Add ImageAdd Image
All the ladies at the finish! We had such a great time!
We didn't stay to hear Brett Micheals since we were freezing cold and it was
about to start to rain on us so we headed out in search for great breakfast!
It was a fun race and I would for sure do it again!!

Heels and Hills Half! A girls only race!

Me before the race in Las Colinas by the horses!

The heels and hills half was held in Las Colinas on
a nice trail and for a few miles in the rain!!
Mom and I did the race together and we really
enjoyed it! I wanted to do a half with mom to
celebrate my birthday as a special treat to
run a half together! She was nervous that I would
run off and leave her but we ran side by side and had
a great time talking, running in the rain, and
celebrating together!! It wasn't for any records
or competition it was just for fun and
great bonding time!!

Mom and I before the race!
We did get rained on for about a mile which wasn't so bad
but at mile 11 the race was paused for bad weather coming
our way so we had to stand under a shelter for
about 10 minutes which was crazy since we
were so close to the finish line!!

We crossed the finish line all smiles and excited for our achievements!!
Now on for the next 13.1 adventure.....
